Where-a Walla Walla?

This morning I woke up in Walla Walla. Love that name.

Go to the front of the class by answering this question: which TWO states does the Walla Walla AVA straddle?

(An AVA is a federally designated area for wine grape growing.)

  1. That’s an easy one: Oregon and Washington.

Here’s another Walla Walla question for you: Besides grapes and wine, what other agricultural product is Walla Walla known for?

  2. Winesmith,

Glad you came through from DC with the Washington (State) knowledge!

Indeed, the Walla Walla AVA disregards the state line and dips into Oregon. Actually quite a few vineyards are on the Oregon side.

As to your seeing my trivia and raising me one, I’ll see you with an answer: sweet onions! But the apples are also good…

    Cheers,

  3. Dr. Vino: The first post on my blog — during Memorial Day weekend this year — was from Washington State. That’s where my parents live and where I went to high school. But I’ll forgive you for not reading every single one of my posts and committing to membory! Especially because you answered correctly with Walla Walla Sweet Onions.

  4. Winesmith,
    Is it Hops?

  5. Dr Vino,
I wish I had known you were in the town they liked so well that they named it twice. I’m a great tour guide. Hope you had a wine-filled visit.

  6. Thanks Catie! It’s a beautiful spot–I’ll be back!
