Say it with wine, Bloomberg does

Representatives of New York City’s 2012 Olympic bid will squire around members of the International Olympic Committee later this month including a horse-drawn chariot ride to dinner and drinks at Mayor Bloomberg’s upper east side home. IOC rules were tightened after the 2002 Salt Lake City games and now prohibit gifts and limit “entertainment extravagance” to one night. With the stakes high, I wonder which corks Mayor Mike will pop from his cellar? New York state wines perhaps to add to some more local flavor? Or French to show a bit of rapprochement?

After dinner they are off to hear Jazz at Lincoln Center (actually at the new Time Warner Center) with a litany of musical stars.

The tough call for IOC members will be to cab it or hoof (chariot) it back to their rooms at the Plaza hotel with views overlooking Christo’s “Gates” display in Central Park.
