Btw, I just saw the wine offerings from the following evening when the Obamas hosted the Queen and Duke of Edinburgh at the US Ambassador’s residence. They were:

* Kistler, Hudson Vineyard, Chardonnay, 2006

* Stags Leap, Fay Vineyard, Cabernet Sauvignon, 20007

* Iron Horse, Russian River Cuvee, 2005

I guess the all-American wine selections continue abroad and not just at the White House.

But, really, whose idea is this to keep serving sparkling wine with dessert (pecan pie and brandy ice cream in this case) at state functions?

Note that Obama, just like Reagan, doesn’t know how to hold a wine glass. And, as with the Reagan faux pas, the Queen and Prince diplomatically follow Obama’s, err, example and do the same. With all the money and supposed know-how available to a President (who is supposed to be a smart guy himself) why can’t they get their basic table manners down? The First Lady does the same thing, by the way. Guess we’ll always be a bunch of hillbillies.
