WineGavel Fine & Rare is going to be launching a ‘Wine Opportunity of the Week’ flash sale site in June too.

I heard that the one wine offered each week will be worth collecting…

This is a very nice idea for a quick look at the flash wine sales. I wrote a post on http://goodcheapvino.com about the flash wine websites. They can be a good deal but with all the local wine deals around why bother buying wines you cannot taste. You are always taking a bit of a risk. Look and buy locally.

There are some great deals on WTSO and some dogs!
Usually the higher end stuff can be had at a bargain. Sometimes I see common wines that are at Binny’s here in Chicago for almost the same price.
Best bet for buying wine is finding a shop or two whose selections you like and keep your business local!

It’ll be interesting to see what happens when/if people post private offer E-mails on a forum like winehoarder. Some of the best deals I see aren’t published online. They’re only shared via E-mail and I suspect some retailers wouldn’t be happy if their offers were published for all too see.

This is a great topic. It would great to have an accurate up to date query of all the wines on flash sale sites. I just can’t see it happening without open partnerships with each flash sale site.

Given the challenge and cost of implementing something like this I do not think they will turn a profit quickly enough to stay in business.
