  1. 2006 Armand Volnay, 2006 Joseph Voillot Pinot Noir, 1997 Palazzo Della Torre Allegrini. All were great successes.

  2. We had 3 bottles — a NV Conde de Caralt Brut Cava, 2008 Sonoma Cuvee RRV Pleasant Hill Vineyard Pinot, and 2008 Dr. Loosen Dr L. QBA. The Conde was OK, the others were excellent.

And, tonight, for second Thanksgiving (my fiancee and I alone, the other one was with my family), we’re having 2005 Château de Chamirey Mercurey Rouge. Mmm, elegant Pinot.

  3. 2005 Williams Selyem Feeney Zin-Full blown and top wine of the night. 1999 Williams Selyem Sonoma Coast Pinot-At the end of its useful life

  4. A magnum of Duval-Leroy NV, a bottle of Eroica (forget the vintage), a bottle of 2005 Laura Aschero Pigato, and a 2005 Four Graces Pinot Noir. Everyone had a great time and enjoyed the wines. I know I did!

  5. Unplanned, a Thanksgiving tour of the Med. Three bottles of tingly vinho verde to get four of us through the day’s prep work — and brace us for 16 guests. I let my 70-year-old dad browse the cellar for dinner accompaniment and he came up with a Sangre de Toro – a screw-top, which he promptly drove a corkscrew into. A quiet glass of calvados (pays d’auge)to create le trou Normand between courses, and buggered if it didn’t work. Sabred a bottle of prosecco for dessert, mostly to amuse the wee ones. Then, when all had staggered off home, my wife and I, in peaceful domesticity, opened a 2005 Rodney Strong Cab Sauv reserve with leftovers — a stunner, a corker, a keeper.

    Friday was a little fuzzy.

  6. Andre Scherer Chasselas ’07; Occipinti Il Frappato ’07; Dario Coos Refosco dal Peduncolo Rosso ’05. The turkey stuffing contained rather a lot of pancetta; the Refosco worked better with it.

  7. Dr Vino,
I took to bottles of christ gemister satz, and a bottle of Morgon from lapierre, a bottle of domaine d’aupilhac lou maset.
The white was great with the turkey as was the morgon! As a plus, most of the family dug the wines!
    Cheers,
    Ben

  8. […] Thanksgiving Dinner, we have objective data showing what people actually drank. Via the invaluable Dr. Vino, we have Cellartracker’s report on what people pulled out of the basement to put on the […]

  9. 1999 Dead Arm Shiraz
    1998 Clos Fourtet
    2000 Hess Selection (Mt. Veeder)

All wines with some age and interest. Each was really a nice accompanyment to dinner.

  10. […] If you care what the masses uncorked, you can always run a search on cellartracker, limited by dates opened, to see what cellartracker users opened. (Is it me, or is this list less interesting than the last time we took a look, for Thanksgiving last year?) […]
