Tipsy gamers: Wine Tycoon

wine_pc_game
Via goodgrape, we learn of the impending release of a new The Sims-like computer game called Wine Tycoon. The producer’s description:

Create the vineyard of your dreams in 10 of the most important wine regions of France. Commanding operations from your very own French chateau, build your winery, plant and tend your vines through all four seasons of the year, and hire staff to harvest and process your grapes. Produce 50 French wines such as Bordeaux, Burgundy, Pinot Gris and Champagne from more than 40 different grape varietals, all in the ultimate goal of becoming a wealthy wine baron!

Reactions:
* In this age of Wii and PS3, people still play PC games? If it’s going anywhere, it had better be massively multiplayer!
* Does naked pigeage count as a plus or a minus in the game?
* Who stirs the Biodyanmic preparations?
* Do the vignerons-tycoons have to learn about selling into the three tier system in America?
* And don’t forget the goal of wine making: become rich as Croesus! But I thought you had to start with a large fortune to make a small one in the wine biz…

  1. Cool… now, where did I put that USB corkscrew adapter…

  2. PC is really the best place to play games. Upgradable computer, Mouse and Keyboard Combo!

And Sim[Simcity] style games work better with a mouse ^_^

  3. It should ship with dirt, MegaPurple and a credit card that already has $50,000 charged to it!

  4. […] stile The Sims cosa diremmo? Wine Tycoon è il videogioco per vigneron virtuali di cui parecchi parlano negli Stati Uniti in questi giorni, e del resto anche noi non vediamo l’ora di metterci le […]

  5. What a blast. I remember the Roller Coaster Tycoon series when I was growing up. It makes sense. In an age where we can simulate everything from piloting a plane to hijacking automobiles, why not do it for wine?

  6. I have a problem with this game.
Can’t load a saved game. The menu of Load Game does’t show any files. All the time spent is lost in career mode.

    I have saved the file in the C:\User\AppData\Roaming\Got Game Entertainment\Wine Tycoon\Saved Games\

Is this a bug, is there a fix?

    What can I do?

  7. I also cannot figure out how to save the game.

  8. A reader just sent in a link to a similar-sounding game.

Are winemaking PC games the next fad?

  9. This is a great post and its very creative indeed but if only you people would properly give cubefield a shot. Its a great game. Very addicitve and very entertaining to all age groups.

  10. I love this game but I cannot save my game! Does anyone know how to save a game?

  11. I cannot figure out how to save it either!! Is this a FLAW in the programming, or…??? It seems odd that many of us cannot save our progress… what a blower. If anyone has an answer, PLEASE post it!

  12. Has anyone figured out why we cannot save games?

  13. Same problem here, doesn’t show saved games.
also got to end of career mode and the last challenge never ends and you can’t start over.
so your just stuck there at last vineyard.

  14. I have the game also now, at first i had same problem..game had save and load buged. But the only way to fix it is instal the game on ure desktop, also u need copy the files of game from data\images\windows\loadsave to folder located in C:\User\AppData\Roaming\Got Game Entertainment\Wine Tycoon\Saved Games\ 🙂 Also after this reinstal the game and now when u will save it will show what u save and load when u want to with no trouble.
Note: it will show now on C:\User\AppData\Roaming\Got Game Entertainment\Wine Tycoon\Saved Games\ 2 files for a saved game instead of 1.( .fdp, .fds ).
    Good luck.

  15. Forgot say: if u dont have C:\User\AppData\Roaming\Got Game Entertainment\Wine Tycoon\Saved Games\ folder yet just make a save and search for the save name u made, rest do as i said before, and enjoy.

  16. I’ll give that a try when I get home. Thanks…

  17. Devious – I tried what you suggested. I couldn’t find the exact matches. I chose the closest matches and followed instructions.
    – no luck –

    Also – when you say
[copy the files of game from data\images\windows\loadsave to folder located in C:\User\AppData\Roaming\Got Game Entertainment\Wine Tycoon\Saved Games\]
    – those ‘files’ seem to be unreadable?

Maybe email me at glwardberg@yahoo.com with ideas.
    thanks, Gary
