Looking for some advice and referral. Does anyone know where I can purchase a bottle of "Les Jamelles Grenache-Shiraz, Vin de Pays D'OC, Limited Edition 2007, France" and a rough idea of it's cost please?

Tyler,

It may not have been pass/fail, but I'm betting everyone was very interested to see who could tell their Cabernet from their Shiraz!

Cheers

@ Warren - I'm beginning to understand the "secret" part given how hard it is to find some of these wines in the US.

@ Dylan - yes, next time, a rolling tripod! (and a little slower)

@ Gemma and Grant - funny! The "lab" session wasn't pass/fail though. I will write up that interesting session in the next few days...

Grant,

I like the idea of a wine logger's licence.

I would love to know what they were thinking when they decided on 'examining' the attendees. As a guess, this 'tutorial' was an attempt to generate good press for Australian wine??? So what did it matter what their tasting ability is like? Surely that's for their (the bloggers/journos etc) readers to decide.

Curious. But funny :)))

Gemma,

Maybe that should be the 'bloggers exam'? Pass the Aussie lab test and get your certified wine bloggers license?!

Cheers

Staggered that they put the smoky Lambert Nebbiolo 2007 into the tasting, rather than the excellent 2006 or should-be-excellent 2008.

And rather amused that the first thing the Aussies did, in trying to prove that they are not a bunch of industrial scientists, was put you into a testing laboratory to examine whether or not you have a good palate :)))) Made me laugh out loud. The can't help 'emselves!!

Other than that, it looks like a fantastic experience.

Your liver is probably well on the way to being a "national living treasure" as they say in Japan! We look forward to the info. Pleased to see some representation of newer white varietals like Viognier. Great to see lesser known areas like Tasmania, Heathcote, the Grampians and Geelong represented.

Tyler, I'm sorry but your career as a camera dolly doesn't look that great. Your experience on the other hand looks tremendous. Thanks for the visual--it truly puts the 249 bottles into perspective the way a simple list cannot.

Dr Vino: This must have been a fantastic experience.

Please don't boast about the wines too much: The quality of Australian wine beyond the Fruit Bomb is a very well kept secret.
