Randall, best of luck with the new vineyard but why not input your great energy and unbounded talent into a Vineyard in Burgandy, Stelvin caps or glass stoppered.Start with the best and go upwards from there....
Love to catch up again. In California until 8th May.

Interesting quote re 'the way forward [being] the way back', as a practicing viticulturist in the Adelaide Hills of South Australia, we are finding the same. We are using simple methods based on observed results that sometimes defy a comprehensive explanation re pest and disease management. And my honest belief is that we are working with a system rather than trying to manage discrete components as traditional scientific training does with its reductionist methodologies, and that is why it works, we are allowing equilibriums to become established that foster P&D reduction below economic thresholds rather than declaring war on every perceived threat to crop health. Onya Randal (Aussie slang for Good On You)

Love the idea of the glass ampoule. Wonder if we will ever start seeing this type of closure on wine bottles.

Tyler, can he hear the ocean in that thing? Great interview and very informative. Not being on the enological side myself, it was tough to brave through some of the scientific vernacular, but very interesting. I found his attitude especially telling when he said the following about screw caps, "Like any tool, it has to be well understood and mastered to be useful." I appreciate his willingness to take a challenge and viewing it as a tool of the trade. For him, it's just another thing to learn and excel at.
