la pawsThe groan committee has met! Thanks for your suggestions of the most groan-inducing wine name. There are many bad wine names out there but it was interesting that no fewer than three people observed that once they pulled the cork on the wine, it wasn’t half bad. Producers take note.

Here are the four “groan cru” (sorry, had to do it) wine names. Vote now for the worst offender! And remember, this isn’t for the worst label design, just the name, hence no finalist labels are shown to distract us.

Which is the most groan-inducing, eye rolling wine name?

  1. Cat’s Pee for sure!

  2. Mommy’s Time out is just an awesome name. It should win for best name.

  3. Puns are just a bad idea

  4. What about “7 Deadly Zins?” The wine and the name make me moan!

  5. I actually liked the Cat’s Pee over a Gooseberry Bush, and smiled when I saw the cartoony, tongue in cheek label. It sort of goes together.

The wine was pretty decent, also: very typical sauvignon, as the name intimates.

I wonder how many people voted for (against?) Goats do Roam, from Charles Back’ South African operations.

  6. Awww, Chateau La Paws isn’t half-bad… And winemaker Kent Rosenblum is a veterinarian so that’s why there’s doggie references. The tasting room is canine-friendly too!

  7. Well, I think this topic looks really funny, but the true is a Seriuos and big Problem that some Companies has to resolve.

Actually, exist more than hundred companies with really bad names. The Naming is a technic, with theory. With some limits and objectives.

There’s more theory about this and I think should be in sites like this.

    Thanks,
