Thanks Allie. I haven’t finalized my choice but it’s probably going to be lighter-bodied reds, such as a cru beaujolais. Or maybe that yummy $12 wine from Bierzo (on the list) if I can find it again….With a lot of people at the meal and wine not really being the main event, I think it’s not worth blowing a lot of money on wine for Turkey day.

I enjoyed your approach to wine and Thanksgiving. I believe holiday meals provide an opportunity for those less experienced to discover wine and understand it better.

Looking ahead, I have seen several articles built around the common Christmas metaphor – 12 Wines of Christmas – and found it an entertaining approach to offer some suggestions to select and buy the best wines for a holiday dinner.

For the novice, I enjoyed http://www.100bestwines.com/articles/the12winesofchristmas.htm approach, since I feel there are many people that miss out on the enjoyment of wine because they fear choosing incorrectly or see choosing a wine as snobbish endeavor.

I’m having a Zinfandel with my Thanksgiving turkey, how about you?

Loved the 03 Tir Na Nog and have tried the 04. Found it a little better balanced. Have 2 more left to drink.

The Movia is indeed terrific, and the Gewurz is one of my perennial favorite turkey day wines. I’d say at least half of your picks are available in the Seattle area – or at least available from the distributor – and could be special-ordered at a retail shop …
