Parker's retirement will be one of the best things to happen to the wine industry in a long time. While his reviews are well written and his palate certainly extremely discerning, his status has propelled the prices of certain wines (that he liked) into the stratosphere and out of the hands of wine lovers all over the worls. More diversity in the reviewer community will be most welcome - hopefully there will not be an heir.
