Well, since, as a professional in the biz, I'll try any wine, any where, any time, I'm not sure it'll help me. But I like the idea!

:-)

Thanks so much for NOT using numbers, Dr. Vino. Your words and descriptions are just fine.

Hey Saltshaker -
Thanks for raising that point. Since I don't use numbers I have to be sure to include WORDS that convey what I think, especially in relation to other wines I have tasted. Is that what you would like?

I'm thinking about getting into more themed tastings--taste through a bunch of wines around a certain theme and then say which is the best. Would you find that useful?

I like your "try and see" attitude! Cheers,

Tyler

Obviously, and looking at the discussion, there are numerous thoughts in regard to the points issue. I don't feel strongly about them one way or the other, they are useful to those for whom a tasting note doesn't convey sufficient information, which, let's face it, is a large percentage of wine drinkers. On the other hand, in response to the question you pose, from a personal perspective, so what if I can't tell from your two tasting notes which one you thought was better. I'd be personally more likely to pick one that sounds interesting from your description, or try both, and decide for myself.
