Da Wine

Well, it’s been a pleasure holding the fort these past days. Thanks again to Dr. Vino for the podium.

One parting observation: I’m writing this from Chicago, which has so much great wine (though not great vineyards…) So why aren’t there any wine bloggers in Chicago? (My current week’s stint excepted.) So much wine, and so many serious wine shops, but no blogging. (I’m excluding the cheesy self-promotional blogs that just try to sell stuff, like, say, this one…)

Notice the big gap on the western shore of Lake Michigan . Are Chicagoans too busy drinking? No time to write?

  1. It could also be they just don’t know about this map. I mean, there are only 50 winebloggers listed for the entire world, which is obviously at least a few short. I’m the only one shown in South America, and I’m pretty sure that even that’s not correct!

  2. True, saltshaker, the map is not all-inlusive. (Let’s make it more so!) But Mark’s point is spot on thought about the glaring gap in Chicago–difinitely an odd gap since it is a top 5 (3?) wine market in the US. I don’t know of any wine bloggers, do you?

  3. Offhand no, but then I’d have to say the same about most cities!
